Germantown Hosts Incredible Architectural Tour & Art Crawl!!!

Don't miss Nashville's Urban Architectural Tour & Art Crawl beginning Thursday, September 4, from 4PM until 9PM in Germantown sponsored by The Stockyard Restaurant, Nashville's premier steak house. The art crawl is brought to you by Take 121 Art Gallery, Nashville's largest art market which will soon have a new location at 3656 Trousdale Drive, right off of I-65 at Harding Place. In celebration, Take 121 will feature a BLOW-OUT MOVING SALE on original works, stocked art and framing. The art sale will continue through Oktoberfest, October 11th. Anthony Billups: Around Town

On Saturday August 2nd, Take 121 will host the opening of Anthony Billup's show entitled Around Town.  This show is the night of the monthly gallery crawl event.

Anthony Billups-Around Town will feature Mixed Media Works and Charcoal Drawings of Life in Music City .

Anthony Billups expresses his love for music, and for Nashville, with his large scale mixed media pieces that layer sheet music, newspaper and appropriated imagery of Music City, with text of music lyrics."I do art not only to show what it looks like, but to show what it feels like to be here. I love stories, I love history and what I absolutely love about this city is that everywhere you turn, there are those stories and that history." Billups came to art somewhat accidently. Originally attending college to play baseball, a rare illness took Billups's sight.

His love of music helped him through the difficulties of struggling with losing his eyesight. When he realized the illness had impaired his ability to play ball, he fell back on his love of music and art. Billups has since overcome the illness that took his eyesight to focus his career on the arts. "I know whole-heartedly that I appreciate where I am so much more from that experience. I take in what I am seeing and what I am experiencing in a fond appreciation for that place and moment."

Take 121 will hold an opening reception on Saturday August 2nd as part of the August Gallery Crawl from 6-9 pm. The event is sponsored by Digital Rodeo and Cadillac Ranch and Yazoo beer and San Antonio Taco Company will provide refreshments. 

We are proud to showcase Dr. Ming Wang's Wang Foundation for Sight Restoration as our featured charity for the evening. A portion of the proceeds from the night of the event will go to The Wang Foundation for Sight Restoration. Acoustic music will be performed by Luke Amelang and Anthony, with a special musical performance by Dr. Ming Wang.

The Flying Oglanders: A Family of Fine Artists

Nashvillians are invited to view the new contemporary works of the Oglander family at a public reception opening 6 pm to 9 pm, Saturday May 3 through Friday, June 27 at Take 121 Art Gallery.

The Oglanders are a talented and unique family made up of Gary, the patriarch, Eva-Marie Pappas, Eric and Daniel. The all star presence of the father, Gary, features his contemporary works in acrylic shown in the Tennessee State Museum as well as three of his works recently purchased by Robert Frist for the lobby of his company, Healthstream; Eva-Marie Pappas, the mother, is known for her imaginative, one-of-a-kind pottery, from jewelry boxes to vases to collectible dish ware; Daniel, one of the sons, creates mixed media works that define the charm and wit of today's gen-20s; and Eric, Daniel's brother, also in the Tennessee State Museum, has a timeless simplicity that breaks barriers appealing to almost every audience, blending with every genre.

Double Take of the Great American Horse - A Celebration of Middle Tennessee's Heritage!

Fans of both Maggie Moore's and Kristoffersen's will be happy to know the Double Take Photo Exhibit will be on display through April 25. This is the first show in which our gallery's frame shop, Framo Products, has provided all of the framing. Many wonderful comments have been made, consistently noting the artistic value of the framing and matting that accentuates these beautiful photographic works. Also, our patrons will be happy to note that all works are available in print. Thereby, we can provide a framing and matting that may better suit your taste as well as your price point.

One does not necessarily need be an equestrian of any sort in order to appreciate this photo exhibit. From Maggie's "Rainbows Aren't Just In The Sky" to Kristoffersen's "Steeplechase" in watercolor, this is artistic photography, no doubt. One can appreciate both the subject matter as well as the presentation provided by the framing and matting. Just about anyone with any decor might incorporate these thoughtful pieces into a living space. After all, the horse can provoke many statements of man's conquests, work ethic, history, poetry and humanity. Double Take of the Great American Horse celebrates the fact that the Tennessee Walking Horse was originally from Middle Tennessee where it was designed and bred. This is one of the most versatile horses on the planet! We, here in Middle Tennessee would do well to take ownership of this exhibit and proudly support it by coming to view it and recognize that the Tennessee Walking Horse is iconic, magical, authentic and unique. In observing these photographic works, one is gently pulled into these artists' concepts. Kristoffersen shows the mystery, the magic, and the memories in his Civil War Reenactment Photos. Amazing! It's as though you're seeing a moment as it truly happened. Take 121 Art Gallery - Hundreds of art lovers trotted to March 1 photo exhibit

Take 121 Art Gallery rounded up approximately 500 patrons who trotted over to the SoBro-based gallery for “Double Take,” a March 1 photo exhibit featuring the works of Maggie Moore and Kris Kristoffersen.

The Spring-like temperature provided a wonderful evening of fun, food and art. The date also coincided with a Gallery Art Crawl given every first Saturday of the month in downtown Nashville. Art lovers came in droves for the opening night reception for Maggie Moore, one of the country's premier horse photographers and Kris Kristoffersen, an Americana, naturalist photographer and his equine photos.

We thank our sponsors for being a major part of the success of this show. Starting with CMT, their sponsorship helped us to spread the news, a likely reason for the spectacular turn-out. We are awed by their commitment to community as demonstrated by CMT One Country, their initiative to encourage individuals to use their talents and resources to make a positive difference, showing The Power of One! Hat Creek Carriage gave patrons free carriage rides around the block for the first hour of the show, encouraging families with children to enjoy the sights and sounds of the arts district. Frozen mint Juleps were served compliments of RentaRita and Buffalo Trace Bourbon, as were red and white wines from The Wine Shoppe at Green Hills. Past Perfect provided light appetizers for the event. Performer Jim Batson set the evening's breezy mood with his distinct Texas Swing and Classic Country music. Lastly, an inspiring video designed by Hallmark/Mitchell Video Productions brought tears to everyone's eyes as they learned about Saddle Up! and it's loving mission to help challenged children.

In hosting four major exhibits a year, Take 121 has made the commitment to support one chosen non-profit by way of a silent auction with donated works by the featured artist(s) for each show. Saddle Up! was chosen as the beneficiary non-profit for this equine photo celebration since it is an organization dedicated to providing recreational horse therapy to challenged children. Artists Moore and Kristoffersen were so impressed with Saddle Up's mission that they've developed a separate supportive relationship. How appropriate that this show, which is now available for national bookings, started right here in Middle Tennessee, the birthplace of the Tennessee Walking Horse. This equine is one of the most versatile horses on the planet and so drew a varied group of opening night guests. Everyone was moved by the photography as well as the spectacular framing crafted by Take 121's framing manager Chris Gowen. Also, Take 121 is now representing the fine metal works of the Twisted Sisters, known nationally for their exquisite designs of chandeliers, wall sconces, metal tapestries, landscapes, lamps and guitars. Take 121 is very pleased to represent their works here in Nashville.

The “Double Take” American Horse exhibit will continue through April 25^th at Take 121 Arts. Maggie Moore's book, Walking With Friends is available at retail for $55. For those interested in placing a bid to benefit our chosen non-profit, Saddle Up!, the silent auction, featuring selected works of Moore, Kristoffersen and the Twisted Sisters will also run through April 25th.
